An ecological zone
Between the forest and the North Sea
Het Nieuwe Water includes a residential neighborhood and an ecological zone. The Poelpolder area has been designated by Westland County as a "blue-green" corridor, connecting coastal dunes with the richly forested area south of Naaldwijk. An ecological zone with an average width of fifty meters is planned for the entire length of Het Nieuwe Water, some 2.5 kilometers. The zone begins on the development's western side and crosses the historic tank ditch to the south, a remnant of the Atlantic Wall, one of Germany's major defense lines in the Second World War. A public park will be created at this location. The ecological zone will be raised by four, and in some places even more, meters, making it a natural and varied landscape. An extraordinary place, where you can unwind from the day's pressures.
